Just a Few of the Clients We’ve Partnered With

Dan Osborn, Independent for US Senate

dan osborn for us senate

Dan Osborn ran for US Senate in Nebraska as an independent — and shook the political world. He outperfromed Kamala Harris by 14 points and came within striking distance of unseating a long-term Republican opponent… in deep-red Nebraska!

As Digital Director, Josh led the campaign’s organic social media program and managed key pieces of their digital advertising program. In the final three months, he helped the campaign drive over 45 million impressions across the campaign’s social media channels.

Francesca Hong For Wisconsin State Assembly

Wisconsin State Representative Francesca Hong is often described as the “AOC of Wisconsin” — working-class roots, relentless focus on people over corporate power, and sharp as hell.

Josh has been in her corner since before she got formally active in politics. He initially joined her team in 2020 to help build the digital program for the first annual Femmestival. When she stepped into the political arena a few months later, Josh signed on as her Digital and Communications Director — and he’s been helping her amplify her message ever since.

#FYP, a Newsletter from FWIW

FYP Newsletter focused on TikTok and the 2024 presidential election

#FYP was a weekly pop-up newsletter from FWIW, covering the top political content, creators, and trends on TikTok ahead of the 2024 presidential election.

As lead writer and researcher, Josh helped unpack the complexities of political TikTok for an audience of 15,000+ subscribers, offering insights into one of the most elusive — and powerful — platforms shaping modern politics.

Wisconsin Assembly Democrats and the Wisconsin Assembly Democratic Campaign Committee

Wisconsin Democratic Assembly Leader Peter Barca brought Josh into the Capitol for a five-week audit of the Assembly Democrats’ digital program. During that time, Josh also trained members and staff on how to more effectively tell the caucus’s story online.

The results spoke for themselves and Josh was invited to run the digital program for the ADCC throughout the 2018 cycle. In that role, he led their email and social media programs, supported messaging efforts, helped manage digital advertising, trained candidates and staff, and provided ongoing strategic support.

Breaking And Holding Off Supermajorities

Steve Doyle for Wisconsin State Assembly

steve doyle wisconsin state assembly

We managed the paid ad program for Wisconsin State Representative Steve Doyle during his 2022 re-election campaign. His seat was the most targeted in the state—and had he lost, it’s safe to say Wisconsin would not have fair maps today.

Sarah Keyeski for Wisconsin State Senate

sarah keyeski wisconsin state senate

When Keyeski ran, she was a first-time candidate taking on a long-term incumbent. When she won, she helped break the GOP Senate supermajority and paved the way for Dems to flip the chamber in 2026. We’re proud to have supported her from day one—even before she officially got in the race.

Bryan Cohn for North Carolina State House

Bryan Cohn ran for the North Carolina State House in 2024. We were proud to serve as his digital agency throughout the cycle, helping him defeat an incumbent and play a key role in breaking the NC GOP’s legislative supermajority.

Progressive Digital Professionals

In 2017, Josh launched the Facebook group Progressive Digital Professionals — a space for progressive campaign staff, agency strategists, and advocacy pros to connect and talk shop. The group has grown to 3,500 members and has hosted trainings, meetups, mentorship programs, a job board, and more.

If you’re a progressive digital professional, you can request to join here. Just make sure to answer all the application questions — incomplete forms won’t be reviewed.

Shoutout to Ashley Fairbanks for designing our group logo.

Social Media Breakfast Madison

social media breakfast madison

Josh joined the board of Social Media Breakfast Madison—a nonprofit dedicated to digital marketing education and networking—in 2016. He became President in 2019, leading the organization through the challenges of the pandemic while coordinating more than 100 in-person and virtual events.

During his tenure, he recruited and managed fellow board members, secured sponsors and partners, and identified speakers, trainers and panelists that kept the community engaged and growing.

After nearly five years as President, Josh stepped down from the role but continues to serve in an emeritus capacity, advising the board and supporting the organization’s mission.

😏 DEPARTMENT OF SHENANIGANS 😏

Along with helping progressive campaigns, organizations and brands win the internet, we also make stuff. Lots of stuff! You can find loads of free content and resources we’ve created here.

But here are some of the fun things we’ve made over the years in our ongoing quest to make Wisconsin — and the nation — a better and more just place.

Does Eric Hovde Hate You?

does eric hovde hate you wisconsin politics

In 2024, Eric Hovde moved back to Wisconsin from California to run for US Senate against Senator Tammy Baldwin. As his campaign unfolded, it became clear he had open disdain for… well, just about everyone.

To highlight just how far his contempt reached, we built DoesEricHovdeHateYou.com — a microsite designed to make it easy (and a little fun) for voters to see exactly who Hovde’s policies and rhetoric targeted.

And here’s a blog post we wrote about his very bad campaign launch.

Democratic Elections Undemocratic Results

Wisconsin Legislative Gerrymandering

2018 gerrymandering wisconsin map

In 2018, Josh ran the digital program for the Wisconsin Assembly Democratic Campaign Committee. Despite the fact Wisconsin Assembly Democrats outworked and outraised their Republican opponents, the election results were a blowout.

Democrats got 54% of the popular vote for State Assembly seats statewide… but received only 36% of the seats.

Josh partnered with Brian Evans to make this infographic, which promptly went viral. It was linked to by the Washington Post and has been shared countless times across the internet.

You can find an accompanying blog post here.

Wisconsin Statewide Elections Breakdown

Here’s a graphic Josh made to illustrate just how broken our maps were. Wisconsin Republicans were getting Super Majorities (or near-Super Majorities) in the legislature while Wisconsin Democrats were winning almost every statewide election.Wisconsin Statewide Election Margins of Victory with percentages

Wisconsin Congressional Gerrymandering

While Wisconsin now has fair legislative maps, gerrymandering still remains a problem for our congressional delegation. Here’s an infographic Josh made following the 2024 election.

Tracking the 2024 Republican Presidential Primary Candidates Email Programs

tracking the republican presidential candidate email programs - what i learned after 7 weeks
i compared the email programs of Joe Biden and Donald Trump

Throughout the 2024 Presidential primary and general election, Josh tracked the Republican email programs (so no one else had to!).

He signed up for all the frontrunners’ programs and then documented what he learned along the way.

He wrote numerous posts about his findings, which you can find here.

He was invited onto the Business of Politics podcast to discuss what he was seeing. You can listen to that episode here (or wherever you stream podcasts).

He also checked in with City and State FL about the DeSantis campaign’s email program. You can find that article here.

He put together a blog post with an accompanying YouTube video about DeSanitis’s VERY bad program.

Needless to say, it was a fun journey following these programs. We hope you enjoy reading our content as much as we enjoyed creating it.
